Kiser Harriss was formed in 1962 in Charlotte, North Carolina, by Mr.
Carl Baxter, who saw great promise in public warehousing and related
services. In 1972 Herb Harriss joined the company after a first career
with DuPont, and he quickly established Baxter Harriss (as it was
formerly known) as a leader in the Southeast in chemical logistics.
The company became a subsidiary of LOGISCO in 2000, but
was repurchased by Drew Harriss, John Kiser, and Herb Harriss in June of
Herb Harriss remains as a consultant, but retired from day to
day operations in 2005. In 2009, the company's name was changed to
Kiser Harriss Chemical Distribution Centers to more accurately reflect
the ownership and chief core competency of the company.
