Transportation / Local Cartage Service
In 1996 we established a transportation division to provide a value added service for our customers. This service is an asset based division complete with tractors, trailers and the chassis needed to move their goods to and from the clients manufacturing plants.
Each day we have dedicated drivers who coordinate with the customer’s local plants. They pick up and deliver raw materials and finished goods as needed. This close coordination with the plants and our warehouse provides efficiency for both the plant and warehouse. Often this shortens the supply chain and allows goods to flow to the end user quicker.
Our fleet of drivers and equipment are all fully insured. Our drivers have full CDL class A licenses with Haz mat, tanker and port endorsements.
Beginning in early 2018 we established a service for our clients who import containers through the Inland Port of Greer, SC. Each day we dispatch our drivers, tractors and chassis to Greer to pick up and haul loaded inbound containers. These are hauled (local Cartage) to our warehouses, unloaded and the empty containers are returned to the Port. The timely coordination and handling of these containers has eliminated unnecessary demurrage charges for our customers. In some cases this has created significant savings. Working with the transportation department of our customer and the South Carolina Port Authority we track inbound containers for weeks while they are on voyages crossing the ocean. This means that we know immediately when their containers have arrived in the US. This service has helped shorten the inbound supply chain for our customers. Our fleet will haul over 3,000 containers from the port of Greer in 2021.
